Great Britain’s Disappointing Performance at Paris 2024 Olympic Test Event

These countries also dominated the total medal count, with Great Britain and France claiming five medals each, closely followed by The Netherlands with four and Italy with three.
While The Netherlands showed their readiness for the 2024 Olympics, earning four medals, the British team only managed to secure two. This performance was well below the expectations for the leading sailing nation, prompting British Sailing Team boss Mark Robinson to acknowledge the challenges they faced in Marseille.
Robinson noted, “There’s no doubt the racing and weather conditions in Marseille have proved incredibly challenging. While we leave with two medals, it hasn’t been the overall team performance we’d have hoped for. But we will recognize what worked well and what didn’t so that we can adapt and grow from these learnings moving forward to enable us to continue our reign as the most decorated Olympic sailing team in history.”
