The International Olympic Committee formally included cricket in the lineup for the LA Games during the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai last year, marking a significant milestone for the sport. Cummins, a pivotal player for the Australian cricket team, is eager to represent his country and display his skills on the prestigious Olympic stage.

At 35 years old, Cummins remains hopeful about his chances of representing Australia in the T20 format of cricket at the 2028 Olympics, despite the potential challenges associated with age and competition. Expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunity, Cummins stated, “That would be quite remarkable. After observing Paris in recent weeks, I have become increasingly excited about the prospect. It was not a consideration for us previously. With four years remaining, anything is possible, so one can never be certain. However, representing Australia in the midst of the Olympics would be exceptionally special.”

Cummins’ impressive track record in T20 cricket, with 66 wickets in 57 international matches for Australia since his debut in 2011, has solidified his position as a formidable player. His noteworthy performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021, where he secured five wickets at an economy rate of 7.37, further demonstrates his capabilities as a top-tier cricketer. Additionally, Cummins’ leadership and sportsmanship were evident as he led the Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL 2024 final and played for the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket 2024, where they emerged as runners-up.
