Samsung Enhances Athlete and Fan Experience for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a dedicated partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement, is set to leverage its innovative mobile technology to significantly enhance the experience of athletes and spectators during the upcoming Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. As part of its continuous commitment to the accessibility and inclusivity of the Games, Samsung will utilize the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition to elevate the competition experience for athletes, while also encouraging spectators to engage with the Paralympic spirit at various interactive pop-up sites throughout the city.
The theme for this year’s Games, “Open always wins,” reflects Samsung’s belief in the power of open-mindedness and resilience, qualities that are epitomized by the participating athletes. This initiative, which celebrates the indomitable spirit of Para athletes, underscores Samsung’s dedication to fostering connection and inspiration through its cutting-edge technology.
“Having been involved with the Paralympic Games for nearly two decades, we consider it our privilege to provide an enriching experience for athletes, volunteers, and fans alike at the Paris 2024 event. Our objective is to bring fans closer to their favorite Paralympians through storytelling and innovation,” stated Stephanie Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.
Samsung’s longstanding support for the Paralympic Movement dates back to the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games. Throughout its partnership, Samsung has engaged audiences and raised awareness by offering immersive experiences. In 2014, Samsung’s Galaxy Studio at Sochi introduced visitors to “Dialogue in the Dark,” which allowed them to experience the challenges faced by the visually impaired. At the PyeongChang 2018 Games, the company showcased the Relúmĭno feature through its Samsung Gear VR, enabling users with low vision to see more clearly.
To further strengthen its involvement in the Games, Samsung is proud to introduce its team of Team Samsung Galaxy athletes, which includes notable Paralympians such as Ugo Didier, Madison De Rozario, Johannes Floors, among others. These athletes represent the values of perseverance and determination and will partake in various promotional efforts to inspire and connect with audiences worldwide.
In order to enhance the experience for the participating athletes, Samsung will provide nearly 5,000 Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition smartphones, which come equipped with specialized features and applications designed to facilitate seamless navigation and communication throughout the Games. Features like the Interpreter, which provides real-time translation in conversations, Bixby Vision for Accessibility, offering audio descriptions, and the Relúmĭno feature to aid low vision athletes underscore Samsung’s commitment to inclusivity.
Additionally, Samsung is poised to invigorate fan engagement through interactive pop-up experiences at prime locations such as Champs-Élysées 125 and Square Marigny. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the Galaxy AI experiences, complete a collection of specially designed pins representing various Paralympic sports, and connect with their favorite athletes during events hosted at these pop-ups.
In conclusion, Samsung’s initiatives for the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 reflect not only its technological prowess but also its unwavering commitment to inclusivity and support for the Paralympic Movement. By bridging the gap between athletes and fans, Samsung is set to ensure that the Games are memorable, fostering a closer connection between the heroes of the Paralympics and their supporters globally.
