The World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 2024 is set to commence from August 27 to August 31, with more than 1,700 athletes representing 134 nations. This prestigious event will take place at the Estadio Atletico de la Vide in Lima, Peru, attracting many talented competitors, including several Olympians from the upcoming Paris 2024 Games.

Notable participants include South Africa’s Bradley Nkoana and Bayanda Walaza, both of whom earned a silver medal in the men’s 4x100m relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The women’s 100m category features prominent talents such as Jamaica’s Alana Reid, who competed in the 4x100m relay at the Stade de France, and Australian athlete Torrie Lewis, who participated in the 200m and 4x100m events.

Ethiopia will also make its mark with Sembo Almayew, a fifth-place finisher in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at the previous Olympics. Additionally, several defending champions from the last World U20 Championships held in Cali in 2022 will be competing. These include Estonia’s Karmen Bruus in the high jump, Uzbekistan’s Sharifa Davronova in the triple jump, Ethiopia’s Medina Eisa in the 5000m, and Jamaica’s Kerrica Hill in the 100m hurdles.

The event promises to showcase exceptional athleticism and competitive spirit as these young athletes vie for medals in various track and field events, including the women’s and men’s 5000m finals, the men’s shot put (6kg), and the mixed relay in the 4x400m category.
