In 2024, the export of natural and liquefied gas from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan saw a significant increase, rising by a remarkable 5.3 times in the first nine months. The National Statistical Committee revealed that from January to September, Kyrgyzstan exported 654.9 tons of gas valued at $322,000 to Uzbekistan. This increase stands in stark contrast to the previous year, when only 127.4 tons of gas, worth $52,000, were shipped during the same period. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan also exported 16.3 tons of natural gas to China, generating $7,800 in revenue.
The growth in gas exports reflects Kyrgyzstan’s expanding role in regional energy markets, particularly with neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan and China. This surge indicates a strengthening of economic ties and a response to rising energy demands in these countries. Historical data highlights that prior to 2024, Kyrgyzstan’s gas exports were significantly lower, emphasizing the importance of this recent development.
The data reflects a substantial advancement in Kyrgyzstan’s gas export capacity to Uzbekistan, which has increased logistics and trade efficiency. This remarkable growth not only demonstrates Kyrgyzstan’s potential as an energy exporter but also enhances its economic collaborations within the region. Additionally, the export of gas to China suggests a diversification of trade routes and partnerships in the energy sector.
