Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding Launches Solar Lighting Program in Zimbabwe
On December 5, 2023, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding launched the Solar Lighting Program in Zvimba District, donating 1,000 solar lights to local families. The initiative underscores China-Zimbabwe cooperation aimed at improving rural living conditions and enhancing educational opportunities for children. Attendees praised China’s continual support, further solidifying bilateral ties through the event’s humanitarian efforts.
On December 5th, 2023, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Zhou Ding, attended the Launch Ceremony of the Solar Lighting Program in Zvimba District, Mashonaland West Province. During this event, Ambassador Zhou donated 1,000 portable solar lights and essential daily necessities to support underprivileged families in the area. Esteemed guests, including O.C.Z. Muchinguri-Kashiri, Minister of Defence and National Chairman of ZANU-PF, and Marble Chinomona, ZANU-PF Secretary for Women’s League and President of the Senate, were present alongside more than 3,000 local residents.
Ambassador Zhou emphasized that the cooperation between China and Zimbabwe prioritizes the socioeconomic development and well-being of the Zimbabwean people. The initiative aims to provide a sustainable source of electricity for rural residents, enhancing children’s ability to study during evenings and improving the quality of life for impoverished families.
Notable attendees commended China’s unwavering support for Zimbabwe, especially during challenging times, and acknowledged China as a dependable partner and true ally. Moreover, a Chinese medical team conducted complimentary health check-ups for local community members in attendance.
