Pakistan Commences Two-Year Tenure as Non-Permanent UNSC Member
On January 1, 2025, Pakistan started its term as a non-permanent UNSC member, securing 182 votes. This marks Pakistan’s eighth term, set to end on December 31, 2026. The nation will preside over the UNSC in July 2025 and will be involved in terrorism sanctions. On January 1, 2025, Pakistan officially began its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). This marked Pakistan’s eighth term on the 15-member council, succeeding Japan as the representative from Asia.
