Team USA Set to Shine at the Paris 2024 Paralympics with 225 Athletes
Team USA will participate with 225 Para athletes in the Paris 2024 Paralympics, scheduled from August 28 to September 8. The team aims to surpass its previous medal record of 104 from the Tokyo 2020 Games, featuring notable athletes and promoting gender equality. Notably, Sarah Adam will represent Team USA as the first woman in Wheelchair rugby. The delegation seeks to contend for top rankings with leading nations.
The United States will field a contingent of 225 Para athletes at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, taking place from August 28 to September 8. This strong representation includes five guides, as the team seeks to surpass its previous performance, where it achieved third place with 104 medals at the Tokyo 2020 Games. U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) CEO Sarah Hirshland expressed pride in announcing the team. “Their journey to the pinnacle of their careers is a testament to their unwavering dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence,” she stated. The delegation features an equal number of male and female athletes, totaling 110 each, and includes notable competitors like Jessica Long, who has secured 16 Paralympic gold medals throughout her career.
The team represents a wide demographic, with athletes ranging in age from 15-year-old Para archer Jordan White to 52-year-old Para shooter Marco De La Rosa. Three seasoned athletes will be competing in their seventh Paralympic Games: Oksana Masters (Para cycling), Tatyana McFadden (Para athletics), and Tahl Leibovitz (Para table tennis).
