Canadian Sisters Gear Up for LA2028 After Paris 2024 Experience
Canadian sisters Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance are actively preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games after representing Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympics. They finished 11th in Paris and are focusing on improving for LA2028, aiming to win a medal in the Women’s Skiff event. Their first post-Olympics competition will be the 2025 Princess Sofia Regatta in Spain.
Canada has received encouraging news as sisters Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance of Chester, Nova Scotia, continue their journey toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games in the Women’s Skiff event. The duo previously represented Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they achieved a commendable 11th place overall. Impressively, they were one of only two teams to secure top 10 placements in all four major events preceding the Olympics.
Reflecting on their experience, Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance stated, “The Paris 2024 Olympic Games was an unforgettable experience: our first Games, the culmination of six years of hard work, a moment we had dreamed about for so long.” They expressed their determination to build on this experience, noting, “Finishing 11th was not the result we wanted, but the experience gave us so much to learn from. More than anything, it showed us that we have the potential and drive to stand on the podium.”
Following their participation in Paris, Georgia took part in the Youth America’s Cup and attended a specialized female training camp with the Northstar SailGP team, while Antonia contributed by coaching the Opti race team at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron. They both shared that they have recognized a shared realization: “we’re not done yet.” Their focus for this four-year cycle is to utilize their past experiences to refine their approach and target one main objective: winning a medal for Canada.
The sisters are set to compete next at the 2025 Princess Sofia Regatta in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, which will run from March 31 to April 5. They aim to take the lessons learned from their previous Olympic journey to enhance their performance moving forward.

It is important to note that while World Sailing has proposed to retain the Paris 2024 Sailing Program for Los Angeles 2028, final confirmation from the International Olympic Committee concerning the events and medal quotas will be issued between December 2024 and January 2025.
