The Final Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for 13 February 2025, at CAF headquarters in Cairo. The tournament will run from 26 April to 18 May, featuring 13 teams vying for four qualification spots for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile. The Final Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Cote d’Ivoire in 2025, is scheduled to occur on Thursday, 13 February, at 14h25 local time (12h25 GMT) at the CAF headquarters in Cairo. This significant event will be broadcast live on CAF TV, featuring draw assistants Adama Coulibaly, a former Mali international, and ex-Senegal star Souleymane Camara.
The tournament will take place from 26 April to 18 May, 2025, with 13 teams competing, and the top four teams will earn qualification for the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, which is set to be held in Chile from 27 September to 19 October, 2025. The teams that have qualified so far include Cote d’Ivoire (hosts), DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia, with one team from UNIFFAC pending determination due to Congo’s FIFA suspension.
In terms of tournament structure, the 13 teams will be divided into three groups: Group A will consist of five teams, while Groups B and C will each have four teams. As the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire will occupy position A1 in Group A. The remaining teams’ placements are based on their final standings in the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 AFCON held in Egypt in 2023.
Current holders Senegal will start in position C1, while Nigeria, who finished third in the prior tournament, will take position B1. The draw will occur using five separate pots to allocate teams into specific positions, with Pot 1 including Egypt, UNIFFAC 2, and Zambia. The arrangement will facilitate the drawing of Level 2 teams into positions A2, B2, and C2, and the rest will fill positions A3, B3, C3, A4, B4, and C4. The organization’s format ensures that the top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals alongside the two best third-placed teams.
