Alica Schmidt’s Paris Retreat Following Indoor Championship Success

Alica Schmidt is enjoying a post-season break in Paris after competing at the German Indoor Championships, where she finished fourth in the 800m and won the 4x200m relay. She shared insights into her trip on Instagram and acknowledged her challenges in the 800m race as she prepares for future competitions. Schmidt remains determined to improve her performance as she transitions into the outdoor season.

Alica Schmidt recently enjoyed a well-deserved getaway in Paris after concluding her indoor season at the German Indoor Championships. At the event, she secured a commendable fourth place in the 800m race and played a pivotal role in winning the 4x200m relay alongside her teammates. Amidst her travels, Schmidt took to Instagram to share her experiences, noting that she is relishing her time off before beginning preparations for the outdoor season.

In her Instagram updates, Schmidt mentioned, “Have a few days off after nationals and spending some time in Paris.” The 26-year-old athlete made a transition to the 800m event following the 2024 Paris Olympics. While she has yet to clinch a victory in this discipline, she recorded a time of 2:09.90 seconds at the German Indoor Championships, placing her fourth and denying her a spot at the World Indoor Championships.

Despite the challenging race, Schmidt expressed satisfaction with her performance, deeming it a success as she emerged unscathed from what she referred to as a “bumpy race.” Subsequently, she contributed to her team’s triumph in the 4x200m relay, completing the event with a time of 1:36.23 seconds with her fellow athletes Skadi Shier, Michelle Janiak, and Lena Leege.

Reflecting on her 800m journey, Schmidt remarked, “Still a long way to go” following her initial competition post-2024 Paris Olympics, which was not a professional event. Schmidt marked her professional debut last month at the Nationales Hallenmeeting Erfurt Indoor 2025, achieving a personal best of 2:05.57 seconds. Though pleased with her progress, she recognized the need for further development to reach podium-caliber performances at international competitions.

In summary, Alica Schmidt is currently embracing a brief hiatus in Paris after a solid indoor season. Her recent performances at the German Indoor Championships reveal both her competitive spirit and determination to excel in the 800m track event. With her sights set on improvement and her upcoming races, she is optimistic about her future in athletics and looks forward to each competitive opportunity as part of her growth journey.
