The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made a significant contribution to Zimbabwe’s food security by donating 700 tonnes of maize grain, part of a larger shipment totaling 8,530 tonnes, as reported by the Herald. This initiative is a key component of Zimbabwe’s Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy, aimed at alleviating food shortages among vulnerable populations.
Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe emphasized the importance of this donation in supporting government efforts to combat food insecurity. Additionally, Edgar Moyo, the Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare, stated that the maize would be processed into mealie meal for distribution, enhancing the efficiency of aid delivery.
