Pakistan Foreign Minister to Visit Bangladesh in April to Strengthen Ties

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Bangladesh in April to enhance bilateral relations after a political transition in Bangladesh. Diplomatic activities, cultural exchanges, and economic cooperation are key focus areas for the upcoming discussions between the two countries.

In April, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Bangladesh to strengthen bilateral ties following the removal of the Awami League-led government in August 2024. The two countries’ diplomatic relations were diminished during the 15 years under the India-aligned Awami League government that began in 2009. The previous visit by a Pakistani foreign minister occurred in 2012, with Hina Rabbani Khar’s brief stopover.

The upcoming visit by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar signifies a renewed commitment from both Pakistan and Bangladesh to enhance their relationship through various diplomatic, cultural, and economic initiatives. The discussions surrounding cultural cooperation, trade delegation exchanges, and the easing of travel restrictions highlight a positive trajectory towards mutual respect and shared values.
