Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding met Zimbabwe’s Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube on February 18 to discuss FOCAC initiatives, emphasizing collaboration in infrastructure, energy, and the digital economy. Minister Ncube appreciated China’s support and expressed Zimbabwe’s intent to boost investment for industrialization and green transformation.

On February 18, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Zhou Ding, met with Mthuli Ncube, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion. The meeting facilitated in-depth discussions regarding the implementation of follow-up actions from the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) along with other significant topics.

Ambassador Zhou underscored the importance of the “Ten Partnership Actions for Advancing Modernization Together,” put forward during the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, as a clear roadmap for bilateral cooperation. He declared that China intends to utilize the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries as an occasion to bolster collaboration in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and the digital economy, aiming to advance the execution of additional projects.

Minister Ncube provided insights into Zimbabwe’s current economic landscape and expressed his deep gratitude for China’s longstanding support. He conveyed Zimbabwe’s eagerness to engage actively in the cooperation mechanisms established under the FOCAC framework and anticipated increased Chinese investment in Zimbabwe to facilitate the nation’s industrialization and green transformation.

The meeting between Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding and Zimbabwean Minister Mthuli Ncube highlighted the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. The discussions centered on key initiatives from the FOCAC, particularly focusing on the intended cooperation in crucial sectors.
