Cambodia and Thailand commemorated the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations with a friendly international football match on Saturday in Phnom Penh. Key officials such as Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa oversaw the event held at the National Olympic Stadium.

The celebration attracted a significant audience and featured exciting competitions, including a match between Kun Khmer martial artists and Muay Thai fighters, along with a game featuring Cambodian and Thai celebrities such as actors, singers, and social media influencers.

During his address at the event, Foreign Minister Sokhonn emphasized that such games are essential for enhancing relationships between the two nations, fostering mutual understanding, and promoting friendship, peace, and cooperation. He noted, “Cambodia and Thailand are not only good neighbors but also share similar culture and tradition.”

Foreign Minister Maris remarked that the tournament symbolizes the commitment of both nations to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation, stating, “This event reflects our two countries’ commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation.” The competitions concluded with Kun Khmer martial artists winning against the Muay Thai fighters 3-2, while the Thai celebrity team defeated the Cambodian team 2-1.

The friendly football match between Cambodia and Thailand serves not only as a celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations but also as a testament to the enduring ties between the two nations.
