China, Russia, and Iran to Conduct Joint Naval Exercise “Security Belt-2025”

China is conducting the “Security Belt-2025” joint naval exercise with Russia and Iran in the Gulf of Oman. The exercise aims to strengthen military cooperation and will involve simulated maritime attacks and search and rescue operations. The full task force has been active in the Gulf of Aden since December, following last year’s focus on anti-piracy training.

China is set to participate in the joint naval exercise “Security Belt-2025” alongside Russia and Iran, as announced by the Chinese defense ministry. This exercise, occurring near the Iranian port of Chabahar in the Gulf of Oman, aims to enhance “military trust and pragmatic cooperation” among the participating nations.

The drills will feature a variety of operations, including simulated attacks on maritime targets, joint search and rescue scenarios, as well as spot checks and arrests. The task force involved comprises the guided-missile frigate Honghe and two ship-borne helicopters, which have been conducting patrols in the nearby Gulf of Aden since December.

The previous year’s exercise, held from March 11 to 15, concentrated on anti-piracy measures and search and rescue operations. These included mission scenarios such as the armed rescue of hijacked merchant vessels and engaging targets at sea, as per information from the defense ministry.
