This strategic partnership further extends to naval capabilities, with the Bangladesh Navy incorporating its first domestically-produced patrol vessel in 2012, built with Chinese assistance.In 2014, Bangladesh and China formalized their military cooperation by signing four significant agreements. Notably, one agreement facilitated support from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) for military assistance to the Bangladesh Armed Forces, which included free training and supplies. Another pertinent accord allowed the PLA to assist in the establishment of a language laboratory at Bangladesh University of Professionals. Additionally, the nations collaborate on peacekeeping operations under United Nations mandates, strengthening their defense collaboration on an international scale.
