Central African Republic Reveals Revised Squad for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers
The Central African Republic has announced a new squad for FIFA World Cup qualifiers, featuring 25 players set to face Madagascar and Mali. The games will occur in Morocco due to local stadium issues. Coach Eloge Enza-Yamissi has made changes, recalling key players while omitting others, with the team currently sitting fourth in their qualifying group.
The Central African Republic has unveiled a revised squad of 25 players for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Mali. Both matches are designated as home games; however, due to the inadequacy of local stadiums, they will take place at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, Morocco on March 19 and March 24, respectively.
Head Coach Eloge Enza-Yamissi has made significant changes, excluding five starters from the previous game against Gabon last November during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Notably, star midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia returns after missing the last match. Other players like Goduine Koyalipou also return, while Donald Benamna, Calvin Bombo, Samuel Nlend, Wesley Ngakoutou, Gabriel Oualengbe, and Jacob Youmbi are all reintroduced to the squad.
Departing from the squad are starters Ghislain Baboula, Karl Namnganda, Isaac Ngoma, Isaac Solet, Bertillo Yangana-Ba-Komi, and Amos Youga. Currently, the Central African Republic occupies fourth place in their group, having secured four points from four matches, trailing the leaders by five points.
The squad features a mixture of experienced players and emerging talents, such as:
Goalkeepers: Mauril Abimala (Olympique Real Bangui), Geoffrey Lembet (Stade Rennes, France), Dominique Youfeigane (Lorient, France).
Defenders: Chérubin Basse (Red Star Bangui), Hugo Gambor (KAA Gent, Belgium), Peter Guinari (Krumovgrad, Belarus), Kenny Kima Beyissa (Excelsior Virton, Belgium), Sacha M’baka (Stade Brest, France), Benjamin Namngbena (Red Star Bangui), Stéphane Nbobe (AS Othoho, Congo), Cédric Yambéré (Girondins Bordeaux), Wesley Ngakoutou (GOAL, France).
Midfielders: Noah Ato Zandanga (Sion, Switzerland), Calvin Bombo (OCPAM 08, France), Geoffrey Kondogbia (Olympique de Marseille, France), Gabriel Oualengbe (Toulon, France), Arnold Yangana Bakomi (Red Star Bangui), Jacob Youmbi (Botafogo Douala, Cameroon).
Forwards: Donald Benamna (Texoma, USA), Moustapha Djimet (Dinamo Minsk, Belarus), Enzo Grothe (Caen, France), Goduine Koyalipou (Racing Lens, France), Louis Mafouta (Amiens, France), Samuel Nlend (unattached), Axel Urie (Al Kharaitiyat, Qatar).
In summary, the Central African Republic has strategically restructured its squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with notable inclusions and exclusions shaping the team’s chances. With matches scheduled in Morocco, the team aims to recover points as they strive for a stronger position in their qualifying campaign. The revisions reflect a blend of experience and youth, setting a hopeful tone for the matches against Madagascar and Mali.
