A 103-year-old woman from China, Du Huzhen, has passed away after an extraordinary wait of over 80 years for her husband, Huang Junfu, who worked abroad. Her family confirmed her death occurred at home in Guizhou province on March 8, while they did not provide details regarding the cause of her passing.

Du Huzhen maintained her hope of reuniting with her husband, whose last communication was in 1952. She was often seen holding onto a pillow cover, a cherished item from their marriage in 1940. According to family accounts, she appeared peaceful at the time of her death.

Huang Junfu, who was three years younger than Du, enlisted in the Kuomintang army shortly after their marriage, which took him away to serve in battles across China. In 1943, he and Du were briefly reunited until she became pregnant, prompting her return home while Huang continued his military duties.

Du Huzhen’s poignant story highlights enduring love and hope, showcasing her unwavering faith in reuniting with her husband after decades apart. Despite the long wait and uncertainty, she held onto memories from her marriage and remained at peace in her final moments.
