Launch of Zimbabwe’s Digital Truck Project Supported by China
On February 19, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding joined President Mnangagwa at the Digital Truck Project launch in Zimbabwe, highlighting the project’s role in enhancing digital skills and promoting sustainable development. Both leaders affirmed the importance of their bilateral cooperation in technology and socio-economic development toward achieving Vision 2030.
On February 19, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding accompanied Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the launch ceremony of the Digital Truck Project, which is supported by Huawei. The event was attended by key figures including the Zimbabwean Minister of Information Communication Technology and various representatives from diverse sectors.
Ambassador Zhou praised the project’s potential to enhance digital skills training in remote rural areas of Zimbabwe, thus contributing to the nation’s sustainable development. He reiterated China’s commitment to fostering international cooperation in artificial intelligence to ensure that progress benefits all countries. The ambassador highlighted the fruitful results achieved in the past 45 years of diplomatic relations.
President Mnangagwa remarked that digital transformation is vital for Zimbabwe to realize its Vision 2030. He expressed gratitude for China’s enduring support and commended the significant impact of the bilateral cooperation on advancing Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development.
