Khama Billiat has expressed his views regarding Knowledge Musona’s return to the Warriors squad, coinciding with their preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria this week. Notably, Musona is rejoining the national team after a period of international retirement, which he had initially undertaken in May 2022 to concentrate on his club career and create opportunities for younger players.
Coach Michael Nees played a crucial role in persuading Musona to come back, a development that Billiat sees as highly advantageous. He asserts, “Having Knowledge back, with all his experience, is a huge motivation. We’ve worked together in the past, and it feels amazing to have him back. It’s been a long wait, and now he’s finally here. We really need his experience, and it will add a lot to the team. He’s a great leader, and his presence will surely be a big motivation for all of us.”
Regarding the Warriors’ prospects in the forthcoming matches, Billiat emphasized a focused approach. He stated, “We’re taking each match one step at a time, focusing on doing our best. The first one is in South Africa against Benin, so that’s where our focus is right now.”
The Warriors are set to host Benin at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Thursday, followed by their travel to Uyo, Nigeria, where they will confront the Super Eagles on Monday.
