Abhishek Kaushik Addresses Visa Denials for Pakistan and Bangladesh Teams

Abhishek Kaushik, President of the Amateur Soft Tennis Association UP, commented on the visa denial for the Pakistan and Bangladesh teams ahead of the upcoming India International Soft Tennis Championship (ISTC) and the first South Asian Soft Tennis Championship 2025. He emphasized that this decision, made by the Indian government, aligns with their stance against terrorism, stating, “We do not support terrorism, and sports cannot coexist with it.”
The tournaments are scheduled to occur at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida from March 17 to 22, 2025, featuring approximately 150 athletes from 12 countries, including Iran, Cambodia, Japan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and India. Kaushik has expressed confidence in India’s chances of winning, noting their prior victory in the ISTC.
Kaushik further highlighted the successful organization of these championships and remarked on the participation of athletes from various countries, while reiterating that only Pakistan and Bangladesh did not send teams. He praised the enthusiastic response of overseas athletes, stating that all the necessary facilities have been provided.
Additionally, Kaushik commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his significant contributions to sports development, noting the impact of the Fit India movement and his interactions with athletes before and after competitions. Kaushik asserted that PM Modi’s support elevates the morale of players and fosters growth within national federations.
