Vietnam Takes Leadership Role in ASEAN and Strengthens Global Partnerships

Vietnam has assumed the chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Argentina, highlighting its diplomatic activities aimed at enhancing cooperation with nations like Algeria, Hungary, China, and India. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasizes Vietnam’s economic growth ambitions while fostering strategic partnerships to support comprehensive development.

Vietnam has assumed the rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Argentina, enhancing its diplomatic engagement in the region. Recently, the Vietnam News Agency reported on significant diplomatic activities, including Vietnam’s efforts to bolster local cooperation with Algeria, focusing on sectors such as trade and tourism. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized Vietnam’s aspiration to achieve upper-middle-income status by 2030 and become a high-income developed nation by 2045, indicating the importance of digital transformation and private sector development.

In a recent meeting, Senior Party official Nghia reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening ties with China, emphasizing that this relationship is a strategic priority in its foreign policy. Furthermore, Vietnam and Hungary are exploring multifaceted cooperation, aiming to fully leverage the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and enhance trade in agricultural and aquatic products. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recognized Hungary as a valued partner during the commemoration of 75 years of diplomatic relations.

The Vietnamese ambassador highlighted the importance of judicial collaboration with China, suggesting mutual legal assistance and training for judicial personnel. Additionally, President Luong Cuong praised the achievements in Hung Yen at a conference, commending the commitment of local authorities. Notably, during discussions on the digital transformation of the National Assembly, the chairman acknowledged the integration of advanced technologies as crucial for legislative effectiveness.

In further diplomatic engagements, Vietnam is strengthening its relationship with Thailand through their defence policy dialogue aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also visited Zhejiang province to affirm shared goals between Vietnam and China. Moreover, Mexico has recognized Vietnam as a model of economic development, and Vietnam seeks to deepen financial and cultural ties with India, sharing experiences on legislative digital transformation.

Vietnam plays an active role in promoting regional cooperation through diplomatic engagements, evidenced by its recent leadership within ASEAN and partnerships with countries like Hungary, China, and India.
