Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence reported the detection of 18 Chinese aircraft and seven naval vessels near its waters as of 6 AM local time on Friday. Among the aircraft, 13 crossed the median line, entering Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The Ministry confirmed, “18 sorties of PLA aircraft and 7 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected… 13 out of 18 sorties crossed the median line.”

In the previous reporting period, ending 6 AM on Thursday, Taiwan registered 27 sorties of Chinese aircraft, six naval vessels, and one balloon. The Ministry noted that out of these sorties, 20 crossed the median line into Taiwan’s southwestern ADIZ. The report stated, “27 sorties of PLA aircraft and 6 PLAN vessels… 20 out of 27 sorties crossed the median line.”

U.S. Department of State representatives condemned China’s military drills in proximity to Taiwan, branding them as “brazen and irresponsible threats,” while reasserting support for Taipei. The spokesperson declared, “China cannot credibly claim to be a ‘force for stability in a turbulent world’ while issuing brazen and irresponsible threats toward Taiwan.”

The official underscored the enduring commitment of the United States to Taiwan, noting that this support will continue as it has for 45 years. The spokesperson stated, “Together with our international partners, we strongly advocate for peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and oppose any efforts to alter the status quo through force or coercion.”

Taiwan has observed increasing military activity from China, with a significant number of aircraft and naval vessels entering its air defense zone. The United States firmly criticized these actions, reinforcing its commitment to support Taiwan and opposing any alterations to the status quo in the Taiwan Strait through aggressive means. The situation remains tense as international responses are geared toward maintaining stability in the region.
