Tykhyi confirmed that the Ukrainian team is focused solely on discussions with the American side, while the U.S. is in communication with Russia, effectively mirroring a model previously utilized during the negotiation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative in 2022. This indirect approach allows for a mediator’s role, which Tykhyi believes is effective.

In earlier remarks, Keith Kellogg, the U.S. presidential envoy to Ukraine, noted that American teams would participate in indirect negotiations involving both Ukraine and Russia.
