RSS Reaffirms Support for Bangladeshi Hindus Amidst Growing Persecution
The RSS’s All India Pratinidhi Sabha passed a resolution in solidarity with Hindus in Bangladesh, addressing their persecution, calling for international intervention, and highlighting demographic declines among Hindus. The resolution emphasizes the need for action from the Indian government and global entities to protect minority rights in Bangladesh.
The All India Pratinidhi Sabha, the central decision-making body of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Saturday adopted a resolution expressing solidarity with Bangladeshi Hindus. This resolution highlighted the involvement of global actors, including Pakistan and the US deep state, in fostering distrust within the region.
Titled “A Call to Stand in Solidarity with the Hindu Society of Bangladesh,” the resolution urges international organizations, particularly the United Nations, to address the cruel treatment faced by Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, advocating for their dignity and protection.
The RSS, the ideological foundation of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), remarked on the systemic persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, which they describe as an existential crisis for minorities. Arun Kumar, RSS joint general secretary, stressed the religious context of this violence.
Kumar emphasized a notable demographic decline, stating that the percentage of Hindus in Bangladesh has fallen from 22% in 1951 to 7.95% today. He indicated that external forces are intensifying distrust among regional nations sharing common cultural and historical ties.
The resolution praises the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration in engaging Bangladesh’s interim government on these issues and calls upon the Indian government, UN, and the global Hindu community to safeguard the rights of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.
Kumar remarked, “This violence is not political alone. It has a clear religious angle because all those being targeted are Hindus and other minorities.” The resolution further expressed concern over the governmental and institutional support for last year’s violence against Hindus and minorities, warning that ongoing anti-India sentiments may threaten bilateral relations.
This resolution marks the first initiative of the Pratinidhi Sabha, which convened in Bengaluru for a three-day session focused on two primary resolutions: solidarity with Bangladesh and the centenary celebration of the RSS, established by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925.
