The Bangladesh Army organized an Iftar party to support the victims of the July mass uprising, where General Waker-Uz-Zaman offered encouragement and financial assistance. The event was attended by injured victims, army officials, and other notable personalities. Notably, leaders from the key activist group were absent. Medical care for victims continues at various facilities.

On Sunday, the Bangladesh Army hosted an Iftar party at Senamalancha, Cantonment, Dhaka, to honor the victims of the July mass uprising. The event, as reported by the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate, aimed to support and uplift the spirits of the injured and families of the fallen. General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Chief of Army Staff, engaged with attendees, offering solidarity and reassurance.

The gathering included injured victims, high-ranking army officials, notable civilian personalities, and directors from various government hospitals. According to ISPR, a total of 4,215 individuals received medical care at Combined Military Hospitals, with 989 requiring surgeries and 39 still receiving treatment in Dhaka. This highlights the ongoing medical assistance provided to those affected by the uprising.

During his address, General Waker emphasized the commitment to continuing financial support for the victims. He encouraged them with the words, “You [mass uprising injured] should not lose morale,” reaffirming the army’s determination to assist those affected.

However, it was noted that central leaders of the Students Against Discrimination—who played a pivotal role in the uprising against the Sheikh Hasina regime on August 5, 2024—were not present at the event, according to reports from injured victims. Nonetheless, several injured individuals and families of the martyrs from the uprising attended from various medical institutions, demonstrating their resilience and unity.

The Bangladesh Army has taken significant steps to honor and support the victims of the July mass uprising. The Iftar party served as a crucial platform for connecting with injured individuals and their families, reinforcing community morale. Continuing financial assistance has been promised, underscoring the army’s commitment to standing by those affected. Despite the absence of certain activist leaders, the event highlighted the army’s willingness to offer support and healing in this challenging time.
