Piastri Achieves First Career Pole Position for Chinese Grand Prix
Oscar Piastri secures his first career pole position in the Chinese Grand Prix, starting alongside George Russell. Lando Norris and Max Verstappen follow in third and fourth. An all-Ferrari third row features Hamilton and Leclerc. Rookies Hadjar and Antonelli impress in seventh and eighth. Liam Lawson starts from the pit lane after a challenging weekend.
Oscar Piastri has achieved a career milestone by securing his first ever pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix, driving for McLaren. He will be joined on the front row by George Russell of Mercedes. Lando Norris, Piastri’s teammate, will start from third place, while Max Verstappen, the reigning World Champion from Red Bull, occupies the fourth slot in the grid for the 56-lap race.
The third row features an all-Ferrari lineup consisting of Lewis Hamilton, who won the Sprint, and Charles Leclerc. Additionally, impressive qualifications from Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli allow them to start in seventh and eighth positions, respectively. Rounding out the top ten are Yuki Tsunoda from Racing Bulls in ninth and Alex Albon from Williams in tenth.
Liam Lawson will begin the race from the pit lane after qualifying in P20. The New Zealander is hopeful that changes made to his Red Bull during Parc Ferme can help improve his performance after a disappointing weekend thus far in China.
The 2025 Chinese Grand Prix is set to commence at 15:00 local time, with live coverage available starting at 14:00.
In summary, Oscar Piastri’s first pole position highlights an exciting start for the McLaren team in the Chinese Grand Prix. The competitive lineup includes key players such as George Russell and a strong Ferrari presence. Rookie racers Hadjar and Antonelli display noteworthy potential, while Lawson aims to rebound from a challenging qualifying position. The race promises to be an engaging event as teams and drivers strategize for victory.
