Ukrainian officials reported that the assault, which occurred overnight, left ten additional individuals injured and sparked numerous fires throughout the city, particularly affecting residential buildings in the Dnipro district.

The incident led to flames engulfing two residential structures due to drone wreckage, with one fire occurring on the upper levels of a nine-story building, causing the death of a woman. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, condemned the attack, stating, “Today, the Russians are once again demonstrating their ‘desire for peace.’ In reality, terrorists are simply launching deadly weapons at residential buildings.”

This drone attack transpired just before upcoming ceasefire negotiations involving U.S. and Ukrainian officials, which are scheduled to convene in Saudi Arabia later today. Leading the talks will be Andrew Peek from the National Security Council alongside Michael Anton from the State Department.

Following the discussions between U.S. and Ukrainian representatives, a meeting with Russian officials is set for Monday, according to Reuters. It is anticipated that, while Ukrainian officials will attend, they will not share a space with their Russian counterparts.

The Ukrainian delegation is expected to provide a list during these talks detailing energy infrastructure that should remain protected from Russian military strikes. Additionally, discussions between Russian and U.S. experts will encompass measures to enhance the safety of maritime activities in the Black Sea, as indicated by the Kremlin’s statements.

Despite previous agreements for a partial ceasefire between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy concerning energy and civilian infrastructure, both sides have accused one another of violating the terms of this accord.
