The Bangladesh Army held an Iftar dinner for victims of the July mass uprising, led by General Waker-Uz-Zaman. He assured continued financial support for the injured. The event saw attendance from high-ranking officials and medical personnel but noted the absence of key student leaders involved in the uprising.

On Sunday, the Bangladesh Army organized an Iftar and dinner event in Dhaka, honoring the victims of the July mass uprising. The event, held at Senamalancha, featured General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Chief of Army Staff, who greeted injured individuals and the families of those who lost their lives in the uprising. Attendees included high-ranking army officials and esteemed civilian figures, along with representatives from various government hospitals.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) disclosed that 4,215 individuals affected by the uprising received treatment across numerous Combined Military Hospitals (CMH). Among these, 989 had surgical procedures, and currently, 39 remain hospitalized in Dhaka. General Waker emphasized the army’s commitment to providing ongoing financial assistance to the victims.

During his address, the army chief encouraged the injured individuals, stating, “You should not lose morale,” assuring them of the army’s continued support. However, members of the Students Against Discrimination, a pivotal group in the uprising that led to the ousting of Sheikh Hasina’s regime, were reportedly absent from the gathering. Additionally, injured victims and families receiving treatment from various medical institutions were also noted to be present at this significant event.

The Bangladesh Army’s Iftar event highlights their acknowledgement and support for the victims of the July mass uprising. General Waker-Uz-Zaman’s presence and his reassurances of continued assistance serve to bolster the morale of the injured. Moreover, the absence of key student leaders from the event illustrates the ongoing complexities surrounding the uprising, underscoring the need for unity and support among all affected parties.
