On a recent occasion, delegations from Russia and the United States convened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to discuss potential measures aimed at ending the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine. The discussions commenced at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel at 10:00 hours Moscow time, as reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian team was led by Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the International Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee, joined by Sergey Beseda, an advisor to the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB). In contrast, the US delegation featured notable officials, including Michael Anton, Director of Policy Planning Staff, Keith Kellogg, Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, and Mike Waltz, National Security Advisor.
The Russian delegation arrived in Riyadh on the preceding Sunday, coinciding with talks between representatives from the United States and Ukraine, also at the Ritz-Carlton. To date, there has been no public disclosure regarding the content of discussions held during the meetings. However, the Ukrainian representatives subsequently announced their decision not to engage in further discussions with the Russian side.
