Ukrainian and United States delegations have commenced discussions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The meeting is being led by Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, who emphasizes the objective of implementing directives from the President of Ukraine aimed at achieving a just peace and enhancing security. Key agenda items encompass the protection of energy facilities and critical infrastructure.

During the talks, Minister Umerov stated, “Today, we’re working through a number of complex technical issues — our delegation includes energy experts as well as military representatives from the naval and air components.” This indicates a comprehensive approach to addressing both military and energy concerns.

Additionally, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has noted that the meeting aims to determine the parameters for various ceasefire proposals currently being discussed. In the lead-up to these critical talks, U.S. President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff reiterated a belief in the Kremlin leader’s commitment to peace, suggesting that Russia is not perceived as a threat to Europe.

On March 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened a military cabinet meeting in Kharkiv, where strategies for the upcoming talks with the U.S. delegation were notably discussed, demonstrating Ukraine’s proactive stance in diplomatic engagements.
