President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has expressed a positive outlook on enhancing diplomatic relations with Colombia, Cambodia, and Ukraine, following the credential presentations of their new ambassadors. Marcos received Ambassadors Edgar Rodrigo Rojas Garavito, Sin Saream, and Yuliia Oleksandrivna Fediv at Malacañan Palace in Manila, emphasizing the potential for further collaboration between the Philippines and these nations.

In a discussion with the Colombian ambassador, Rojas Garavito, President Marcos mentioned that both countries have a shared aim for lasting peace and development, highlighting strong bilateral ties established on July 5, 1946. Furthermore, with an approximate population of 100 Filipinos in Colombia, there is significant potential for collaborative growth.

Turning to Cambodia, Marcos acknowledged the established foundation between the two countries since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations on August 20, 1957. He expressed anticipation for strengthening this union and was assured by Ambassador Sin of a commitment to enhancing cooperation, benefiting both nations, which currently accommodates around 7,500 Filipinos.

With regard to Ukraine, Ambassador Fediv expressed her eagerness to foster stronger bilateral relations, focusing on shared objectives promoting peace and mutual respect. Marcos reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to supporting Ukraine in its quest for peace, reflecting on the diplomatic ties established on April 7, 1992, and recognizing the presence of approximately 24 Filipinos residing in Ukraine.
