Reports indicate that China and Bangladesh aim to finalize at least eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the visit. These agreements will cover various sectors, including trade, cultural exchanges, and advancements in Mongla Port and water management, despite India’s previous access to that port under the Hasina government.

Yunus is expected to solicit support from China for crucial infrastructure projects. There is anticipation of a limited health sector grant, reflecting decisions from Hasina’s visit to Beijing last July. Moreover, Yunus plans to discuss the establishment of a Chinese Economic Zone in the Anwara upazila of Chattogram and negotiate a Bangladesh-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA). A report from Bangladesh Business Standard highlights that a draft for a revised bilateral investment agreement has been sent by China, although major loans might be constrained by Bangladesh’s existing economic challenges.
