The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 reports a record 3,442 billionaires, with the US surpassing China in count for the first time in a decade. The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 reveals a record 3,442 billionaires worldwide, with an increase of 163 compared to last year. Notably, the United States has overtaken China in billionaire count for the first time in a decade, boasting 870 billionaires compared to China’s 823. Mumbai leads India as the billionaire capital, housing 90 of the nation’s wealthiest individuals, while India, with 284 billionaires, has seen nearly a tripling in numbers over the past decade, securing its position as the third-largest hub for billionaires after the US and China.

India is distinguished as the leader in family-run billionaire enterprises globally, while China accounts for the highest proportion of self-made billionaires. The country has 42 emigrant billionaires primarily relocating to the US, juxtaposed with just six immigrant billionaires moving to India. The sectors propelling India’s billionaire growth are healthcare, consumer goods, and industrial products, contributing 53, 35, and 32 billionaires, respectively.

Mukesh Ambani retains his status as India’s richest person but has fallen out of the global top 10. Gautam Adani’s wealth increased by 13 percent, placing him 18th globally. Financial services dominate as the top industry for billionaires worldwide, followed closely by consumer goods and healthcare. The list showcases a growing trend of younger billionaires, with a total of 129 individuals aged 40 or younger, including 75 who are self-made. Among them, fifteen billionaires are under 30 years old.

Elon Musk has reclaimed his title as the world’s richest person for the fourth time in five years, with the top 10 billionaires collectively increasing their wealth by $512 billion, holding a net worth of $2.1 trillion—representing 12 percent of total billionaire wealth. Sergey Brin returns to the top 10, displacing Mukesh Ambani, while Bernard Arnault is the sole non-American among this elite group. Additionally, Roshni Nadar and her family entered the Hurun Top 10 Women list with a net worth of $40 billion, after significant stake transfers from her father, Shiv Nadar, in HCL. Overall, 1,958 billionaires experienced a wealth increase, while 1,260 witnessed a decline, contributing to a total billionaire wealth growth of 13 percent.
