Valentine Rugwabiza, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Central African Republic, condemned this violence, describing it as a heinous attack. Ms. Rugwabiza expressed her disbelief, stating she was “extremely shocked by the heinous attack” on peacekeepers, whose fundamental role is to ensure the protection of civilians.
In her condolences, she extended heartfelt sympathy to the Government and citizens of Kenya, along with the family of the deceased peacekeeper. In response to the incident, a rapid intervention team has been deployed to the area to secure it effectively.
