China to Invest in Specialized Hospital in Bangladesh

China will invest in the construction of a specialized hospital in Bangladesh, as announced by Dr. Khalilur Rahman. This initiative follows a request from the Bangladesh government and aims to improve local medical facilities, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment abroad.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the High Representative on the Rohingya Problem and Priority Issues, announced plans for the construction of an international-standard specialized hospital in Bangladesh, funded by China. The announcement was made during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, with anticipated construction commencing shortly.

The initiative came after the Bangladesh government’s request for such a facility. Dr. Rahman indicated that during a previous visit to Kunming in December, he conversed with China’s Minister of Cooperation about the urgent need for quality medical services for Bangladeshi patients. As a result of these discussions, four Chinese hospitals were identified for Bangladeshi patients requiring medical treatment.

In summary, the collaboration between Bangladesh and China for establishing a specialized hospital reflects proactive measures to enhance healthcare facilities within Bangladesh. By initiating domestic medical services, the Bangladesh government aims to reduce dependence on foreign medical treatment, thereby addressing a significant need for competent healthcare directly within the country.
