China Welcomes Bangladeshi Students for Higher Education Opportunities
China has shown a positive attitude towards Bangladeshi students’ higher education, with many already studying in the nation. Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, returning from a state visit, emphasized aspirations for thousands of students to join. The Chief Advisor’s senior aide, Khalilur Rahman, announced that China has expressed a favorable response towards facilitating higher education opportunities for Bangladeshi students. He noted that a considerable number of Bangladeshi students are currently studying in China, with expectations for increased enrollment in the future.
Following a recent four-day official visit to China, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus emphasized the strong foundation laid for future bilateral relations, particularly focusing on water resources and industrialization. Khalilur Rahman stated that educational engagement is vital for promoting deeper people-to-people connections between the nations.
During conversations with leaders in China, the Chief Advisor articulated the desire for thousands of Bangladeshi students to attend Chinese universities, referencing the notable presence of Bangladeshi students at the special convocation of Peking University. Additionally, he mentioned that many students are also enrolled across various provinces in China.
Looking forward, Khalilur indicated that the upcoming visit of the governor of Kunming in April will center on educational discussions. Furthermore, Bangladesh and China have formalized their cooperation through agreements on economic and technical collaboration, along with multiple memoranda encompassing cultural exchanges, media, sports, and health sectors.
Moreover, China’s commitment of $2.1 billion in loans, grants, and investments further underscores the depth of their partnership. Both countries have concurred to enhance cooperation across numerous domains, including hydropower initiatives, flood control measures, river dredging, and strategies for climate change mitigation.
