A new maritime route between Zhuhai, China, and Amapá, Brazil, set to launch on April 14, will enhance trade by reducing logistics costs and transport times. Managed by Sino-LAC Supply Chain Co., this route focuses initially on biofertilisers while offering future opportunities for additional agricultural products. The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a mutually beneficial trade relationship between the two countries.

The inauguration of a new maritime route between Gaolan Port in Zhuhai and Santana in Amapá, Brazil, is scheduled for April 14. This development aims to significantly enhance trade between Brazil and China by reducing transport time and logistics costs by up to 30%, thereby elevating supply chain efficiency. This initiative arises from a memorandum of understanding established last year between Companhia Docas de Santana and the Zhuhai Economic and Technological Development Zone.

Management of the new route will be overseen by Sino-LAC Supply Chain Co. Ltd, a company proficient in transnational customs operations and storage, founded in 2015. The route is particularly designed for exporting Chinese biofertilisers to Brazil, which will primarily serve the Midwest and Amapá regions. In reciprocation, Brazil intends to supply soybean grains to China, fostering a mutually beneficial trade relationship.

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has already begun testing the initial batch of imported biofertilisers, which are intended for local production projects via the Federal Rural University of the Amazon. It is anticipated that the new maritime route will invigorate economic activity, generate employment, and create new business prospects. While the primary focus is currently on biofertilisers, future expansions may include the transportation of other agricultural products from Amapá and surrounding areas to China.

The new maritime route connecting Brazil and China represents a significant advancement in international trade, particularly in the biofertiliser sector.
