Successful Seminar Highlights Business Opportunities in Equatorial Guinea
The IPIM hosted the “Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Opportunities Promotion Seminar – Equatorial Guinea” on March 28, attracting nearly 100 attendees. Participants learned about Equatorial Guinea’s lucrative natural resources and investment opportunities. The event served as a precursor to an upcoming Entrepreneurs Meeting scheduled for July, emphasizing Macao’s pivotal role in promoting China-PSC business relations.
The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of Macao recently held the inaugural “Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Opportunities Promotion Seminar – Equatorial Guinea” on March 28. This seminar aimed to bolster Macao’s role as a platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) while aiding enterprises in discovering potential business opportunities within these markets. As part of the “Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Opportunities Series” for this year, the event gathered representatives from various PSCs to present insights on their business environment and unique products.
The seminar attracted close to 100 participants from diverse sectors, including technology, finance, cultural and creative industries, and professional services. Attendees included businesspeople and representatives from trade associations across mainland China, Macao, and Portuguese-speaking nations. The event was jointly organized by IPIM and the “China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Federation of Entrepreneurs.” Ms. Cristina Abeso, Equatorial Guinea’s representative, highlighted the nation’s rich natural resource potential, including oil, gas, gold, and diamonds, urging international enterprises to consider investing in these areas.
Two representatives from Chinese-funded enterprises shared their experiences operating in Equatorial Guinea, inspiring local participants to explore the investment landscape. The event featured active discussions between keynote speakers and attendees, enabling collaborative ideas to formulate for future developments. Following the seminar, participants visited the “Pavilion of China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform” and the ENCONTRO product store, which contributed to enriching their understanding of opportunities available in Equatorial Guinea.
The seminar serves as a precursor to the upcoming “Entrepreneurs Meeting for Commercial and Economic Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries,” scheduled for July in Equatorial Guinea. The event indicates the potential for significant growth in trade relations, with the total import and export value between China and PSCs reaching US$225.179 billion in 2024. IPIM will maintain its efforts to support Chinese enterprises seeking to penetrate the markets of Portuguese-speaking countries and promote bilateral cooperation.
The “Portuguese-Speaking Countries Business Opportunities Promotion Seminar – Equatorial Guinea” successfully convened nearly 100 participants to explore business prospects within Equatorial Guinea. With a focus on its abundant natural resources and potential for investment, this seminar marks the beginning of a series designed to enhance collaborations between China and the Portuguese-speaking nations. As Macao continues to serve as a crucial platform, significant opportunities are expected to arise for enterprises in this sector, particularly with the upcoming Entrepreneurs Meeting in July. IPIM is committed to facilitating further expansions in trade and cooperation.
