Angola Coach Emphasizes Tactical Preparation Ahead of Mali Clash in U-17 AFCON

Angola’s U-17 football coach, Domingos da Silva (Mito), is focusing on tactical preparations through video analyses of Mali ahead of their AFCON opener. The team is adapting well to playing on natural grass, having trained effectively on good-quality pitches. They look forward to subsequent games against Côte d’Ivoire and the Central African Republic following their opening game.

Angola’s under-17 national football team, coached by Domingos da Silva (Mito), has prioritized tactical preparations ahead of their upcoming match against Mali. The match marks the opening of their Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in Group D at the Berrechid Municipal Stadium, Morocco, on Tuesday.

In a statement to the Angola Football Federation, Mito emphasized the importance of tactics guided by video analysis of Mali’s playing style. “We went to a good field with good grass. We trained well and it also allowed us to adapt. We are working on the technical-tactical aspects, especially the offensive since we are also observing the videos of opponents and how they play,” he noted.

Mito remarked on the players’ successful adaptation to the natural grass, stating, “It has benefited the athletes and the technical team since in Angola, we only worked on synthetic grass. There is a positive adaptation, fighting spirit, and eagerness to start our journey towards our dream for Qatar (FIFA World Cup).”

Following the Mali match, Angola’s schedule includes a game against Côte d’Ivoire on April 4, and another against the Central African Republic three days later. The team recently achieved a 3-0 victory over an under-19 squad as part of their AFCON preparations, building on their third-place finish at the previous AFCON edition in 2019.

The Angola squad comprises the following players:
Goalkeepers: Gerson, Luis, Tremoco;
Defenders: Ivan, Galinha, Josemar, Lourenco, Hugo, Marquito;
Midfielders: Athos, Lucas, Densel, Flavio, Puna, Jairo, Manelson, Omar;
Strikers: Ayase, Edilasio, Eliseu, Kalanguinha, Rasgado, Ginima.

The Angola under-17 national football team, under the guidance of Coach Domingos da Silva (Mito), is strategically preparing for their crucial AFCON opening match against Mali. With a focus on tactical training informed by video analysis, the team aims to capitalize on their successful transition to natural grass as they embark on their quest toward future tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Angola’s performance will also depend on their subsequent matches against Côte d’Ivoire and the Central African Republic.
