Chinese Embassy’s Cheng Yan Attends Handover Ceremony of Youth Maker Program in Zimbabwe

On March 27, 2023, Cheng Yan, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe, attended the handover ceremony for the “Youth Maker” Program in Mashonaland Central Province. During this event, he donated the high-quality breeding goats to local youth organizations. The ceremony attracted influential figures, including Tinoda Machakaire, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, UNDP Resident Representative, local members of Parliament, traditional leaders, and over 1,500 residents.

Cheng Yan emphasized the crucial role of youth in shaping the future of a nation. The “Youth Maker” Program aims to empower Zimbabwean youth through entrepreneurship and income-generating activities, thus fostering sustainable community development. In light of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe, he expressed China’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in youth empowerment and talent cultivation for mutual benefit.

Minister Machakaire conveyed appreciation for China’s support in developing Zimbabwean youth. He encouraged the youth to embrace the friendship between the two nations, learn from China’s successful experiences, and contribute positively to Zimbabwe’s advancement.

Cheng Yan also participated in local media interviews and observed ongoing goat-breeding and crop-planting initiatives, showcasing China’s involvement in practical development projects.
