The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) revealed that captain Barbra Banda, Racheal Kundananji, Prisca Chilufya, and Grace Chanda, all based in the U.S., will not participate in the Yangchuan International Tournament in China.

The elimination of these players comes as travel to and from the United States has taken on additional complexities, resulting in reports of detentions and visa revocations. FAZ made clear that these players would not be available for the upcoming friendly matches scheduled in China.

Reuben Kamanga, general secretary of FAZ, confirmed the unavailability of the Orlando Pride players and Rachael Kundananji from Bay FC for the international matchups. He noted, “After working through the process instigated by recently introduced measures, it was decided that it is in the best interest of our players to skip this assignment.”

Kamanga further mentioned that the decision was guided by counsel from the Zambian mission in the United States and the respective clubs. He emphasized that the excluded players would be eligible for future competitions, as demonstrated in the last match against Malawi. The Copper Queens will initiate their tournament against Thailand in Chongqing, China, on April 5, with potential advancement to the finals on April 8.
