Bangladesh is poised to draw attention from global investors as it prepares to host the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 from April 7-10 in Dhaka. This summit aims to highlight the nation’s evolving investment landscape and the potential for transformative growth. Organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), the event will attract industry leaders and executives from approximately 50 countries, underscoring Bangladesh’s emerging status as a favorable investment destination.
The Executive Chairman of BIDA, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, emphasized the importance of this summit in presenting Bangladesh’s economic progress and growth possibilities to foreign investors. He stated, “Foreign investors need a clearer understanding of Bangladesh’s economic landscape and growth potential. This summit will not only showcase investment opportunities but also highlight the significant reforms undertaken to create a more business-friendly environment.”
The initiative anticipates participation from 550 delegates, including high-profile guests like Baroness Rosie Winterton, the UK’s Trade Envoy to Bangladesh, and other senior executives from global companies. BIDA has arranged various meetings and activities, including visits to notable economic zones on the summit’s first and second days.
On April 9, during the main event, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will participate, promoting the collective effort of various sectors and foreign embassies in this endeavor. Chowdhury Ashik expressed the hope that physical presence will improve global investors’ understanding of the actual investment environment in Bangladesh. He elaborated, saying, “It is very difficult to give investors a genuine view and tell the true stories until we bring them physically.”
The summit will also feature dedicated spaces for discussions with political parties and various bilateral meetings, aiming to provide investors with insights into the political climate. Special attention will be granted to cultural presentations, which will display Bangladesh’s heritage and potential as a global investment hub.
Other key activities include a demo day for Starlink services, breakout sessions focusing on critical investment sectors, and a recognition initiative—the Excellence in Investment Award—to honor enterprises making significant contributions to Bangladesh’s economic landscape. As Professor Yunus remarked, “There has never been a better moment to explore the extraordinary investment opportunities in Bangladesh.”
The summit is expected to mark a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s journey towards attracting foreign direct investment, providing a platform for global stakeholders to forge new partnerships and contribute to the nation’s growth.
At this summit, attendees will also learn about key sectors such as digital economy, textiles, agriculture, and healthcare, with planned discussions aimed at fostering innovation and investment expansion. The collaborative efforts of BIDA, government bodies, and key partners will further strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the global investment arena.
The Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 stands as a pivotal event aimed at showcasing the country’s investment potential and reformative strides towards economic progress. With active participation from global leaders and a focus on bilateral meetings and sectoral discussions, the summit seeks to provide a realistic and compelling view of Bangladesh to attract sustained foreign investments. As underscored by officials, the initiative aims to position Bangladesh as a competitive player in the global marketplace, benefitting both investors and the national economy alike.
