Yemen’s Resistance: Evaluating the Outcomes of U.S. Aggression Under Trump
The Yemeni people have demonstrated remarkable resilience against an international coalition led by the U.S. and British forces since 2015. Under Trump’s administration, military actions against Yemen have escalated, prompting a robust response from Yemeni armed forces. The Ansarallah movement has gained significant support and effectively contested U.S. military advancements, reinforcing Yemen’s strategic role in support of the Palestinian cause.
On March 26, 2015, the onset of the aggression against Yemen set off a monumental resistance by the Yemeni people against a coalition of 17 nations led by the United States and Britain. As of now, Yemen exemplifies a remarkable narrative of resilience, challenging the coalition’s expectations and advocating for Palestinian rights amidst the ongoing conflict.
Under the Trump administration, military efforts against Yemen have intensified compared to those during Biden’s term. Current airstrikes are reportedly more aggressive and targeted, inflicting devastating effects on civilian populations while excluding the direct involvement of British naval forces. Meanwhile, Yemeni armed forces are disrupting maritime operations toward Eilat, Israel, particularly as humanitarian access to Gaza remains unaddressed.
The strength of the Yemeni armed forces can be attributed to the Ansarallah movement’s commitment to jihad, a principle supported by millions. This steadfast dedication has propelled significant civilian participation in demonstrations, exhibiting resilience despite ongoing aerial bombardments and dire economic conditions. The moral imperative of the Palestinian issue profoundly resonates within the Yemeni populace.
The Sanaa government has demonstrated remarkable capabilities in countering American airstrikes, which have severely impacted Yemen’s economy, estimated at losses exceeding $170 billion. By adopting a self-reliance strategy, Yemen has fortified its resolve across various sectors while inflicting casualties on enemy naval forces and engaging in offensive missile operations against Tel Aviv.
Yemen’s geographical advantages further hinder the effectiveness of American reconnaissance operations, while the Ansarallah movement has countered narratives from prominent Yemeni political factions. Through their military successes against Saudi-Emirati forces from 2015 to 2022, the movement has garnered increased support from both Yemeni and Arab elites, enhancing its legitimacy on the global stage.
Despite U.S. military advancements and support from allies like Israel and Western nations, Yemen’s resistance illustrates the potential for triumph against superior forces. The ongoing conflict emphasizes the United States’ limitations in sustaining lengthy military engagements, particularly as it grapples with challenges posed by Iran, China, and other domestic issues. Yemen’s situation thus emerges as a pivotal asset for the Palestinian cause and the broader Axis of Resistance.
In summary, Yemen’s capacities and resilience have enabled it to withstand extensive military campaigns spearheaded by the United States and its allies. Amidst this, the Ansarallah movement has solidified its stature both within Yemen and beyond, fostering strong support rooted in unwavering commitment to Palestinian rights. The dynamics of the conflict reveal the limitations of U.S. military strategy and the potential for Yemen to remain a vital player in the broader geopolitical landscape.
