These actions were linked to China’s operations known as Operation Fox Hunt and Operation Sky Net.

At sentencing, Judge Pamela K. Chen criticized McMahon’s actions, stating, “This type of crime really does threaten our country’s national security.” She emphasized McMahon’s demonstrated lack of empathy towards the victims, who expressed feelings of ongoing threat due to his involvement in the case.
