During a reception honoring Botswana’s 58th Independence anniversary held in Harare, Ambassador Shava noted the positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation over recent years. the Ambassador remarked, “I am pleased to note that these cordial relations have been further cemented by an increased exchange of high-level visits…” He emphasized the importance of mutual support, highlighting Botswana’s valuable contribution to Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector, notably through the provision of vaccines that aid in preventing the foot-and-mouth disease. He also acknowledged the effective partnership in curbing cross-border cattle rustling, which has benefited both nations. Ambassador Shava proudly recalled Zimbabwe’s role in hosting Botswana’s President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi and other regional dignitaries at the 44th Ordinary Summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government, underscoring the significance of unity and collaboration within the organization. In her remarks, Botswana’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Sarah Molosiwa, emphasized the interdependence of the two nations, stating, “We acknowledge the fact that our countries are too small and cannot prosper individually…” She pointed out the need for regional integration and its positive impact on trade relations, further illustrating that trade activities between Botswana and Zimbabwe have seen a steady increase over the past two years.
