Bengaluru Marathon 2024: Kartik Kumar and KM Laxmi Win Elite Races
The Bengaluru Marathon 2024 crowned Kartik Kumar the winner of the men’s elite race with a time of 2:22:50, and KM Laxmi claimed victory in the women’s elite race at 3:00:21. This year marked the marathon’s 11th edition and was recognized as a category E World Athletics Label Road Race. On Sunday, Kartik Kumar emerged victorious in the men’s elite race at the Bengaluru Marathon 2024, clocking in at 2:22:50. KM Laxmi took the women’s elite title with a commendable time of 3:00:21. This 11th edition of the Bengaluru Marathon is notable for being recognized as a category E World Athletics Label Road Race and has also received certification as a National Open Marathon by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). The race commenced from the Kanteerava Stadium, a central hub for numerous sporting events. Kartik Kumar, an accomplished athlete who secured a silver medal in the 10,000 meters at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year, showcased his endurance and tactical running skills to clinch first place. Following closely, Pradeep Singh Chaudhary finished second with a time of 2:23:35, while Harshad secured third, finishing in 2:25:50. The all-time national records remain notable, with the men’s marathon record of 2:12:00 set by Shivnath Singh in 1978 and the women’s record of 2:34:43 established by OP Jaisha in 2015.
