Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Stars Make Generous Donations to The Olympic Museum

A group of distinguished volleyball and beach volleyball athletes who made notable contributions to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have generously donated parts of their competition attire to the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. Their contributions will be added to the museum’s impressive collection of athletes’ equipment, audio-visual archives, and other memorabilia, serving as a significant legacy from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Indoor Olympic champions, Jenia Grebennikov of France and Paola Egonu of Italy—who was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the women’s volleyball event—graciously presented their autographed Olympic jerseys. Similarly, bronze medallist Micah Christenson of the United States and semifinalist Eda Erdem of Türkiye also made contributions by donating their autographed jerseys.

Additionally, Olympic silver medallist Bartosz Kurek of Poland and bronze medallist Gabriela Guimaraes (Gabi) of Brazil donated their signed shoes, while Haleigh Washington of the USA, who also won a silver medal, generously gifted both her uniform and her shoes to the Olympic Museum.

The spirit of generosity extended to the beach volleyball players as well. Olympic champion Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) of Brazil was delighted to donate her top and shorts, while Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada, who won the silver medals, contributed their jerseys and leggings to the museum.

The International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Museum, located in the Olympic capital Lausanne, serves as the global custodian of the sporting, historical, and artistic heritage of the Olympic Movement. The museum’s Olympic heritage collections are meticulously preserved and displayed in exhibitions in Lausanne as well as part of educational and cultural programs worldwide. A significant portion of this collection consists of emblematic pieces of sports kits that have been generously donated by Olympians.

It is through the museum’s international exhibitions and programs that individuals of all ages are able to engage with the diverse stories, art, history, and culture of the global Olympic Games phenomenon. Their educational initiatives are inspired by the Olympic values of respect, friendship, and excellence, connecting individuals with the rich heritage of the Olympics.
