Capturing the Magic of Paris 2024 Olympics: An Exclusive Insight by Grace Hollars
It is with great pleasure that I announce my involvement with the prominent visuals team at USA Today for the coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The transition from my usual role on the sidelines in Indianapolis to the vibrant streets of Paris presented its challenges, but the experience proved to be truly awe-inspiring. As I navigated through the city, I was met with the grandeur of the venues that hosted the world’s most prestigious sporting events.
Over the span of ten exhilarating days, I focused my lens on capturing the essence of the swimming events, affording me the opportunity to photograph renowned athletes such as Katie Ledecky, Bobby Finke, as well as local talents including Drew Kibler, Aaron Shackell, and Alex Shackell. Additionally, I had the privilege of witnessing the groundbreaking men’s competition of breaking, delving into the intensity of wrestling matches, and even experimenting with photographing the captivating artistry of synchronized swimming.
The resounding enthusiasm of the crowd as they fervently rallied behind their fellow compatriots is a memory that will forever be etched in my mind. Furthermore, the echoes of jubilation reverberating through the streets as hundreds of patrons gathered in local establishments to witness the gripping United States vs. France basketball gold medal game will remain a cherished memory.
As a seasoned photographer, marking my fourth consecutive Olympic Games, I can confidently affirm that my experience in Paris has left an indelible mark on me.
